Identity Behind the Patch

In The Son of Anarchy, René Magritte’s The Son of Man is reimagined through the world of Jax Teller and Sons of Anarchy. The familiar apple gives way to the SAMCRO patch, partly hiding Jax’s face and turning a classic symbol of mystery into a sign of identity, loyalty and rebellion.

Part of Crossover: When Pop Culture Meets the Old Masters, the painting explores pop culture as a living mythology. Characters from contemporary stories enter the visual language of classical and modern art, becoming new icons through which ideas of belonging, freedom and identity can be seen.
